2D Fourier Transform, Introduction

The Fourier transform can be applied to 2 dimensional signals, eg
images. The equations describing the 2D fourier transform is shown
below. THe variables u and v are not the only ones used but they
simplify the equations. u and v are equivalent to reciprocal
wavelength (wave-number/(2 pi)).
